Horton is Out of P&G Championships

Two-time U.S. All Around Champion Jonathan Horton has withdrawn from the 2013 P&G Championships. The two-time Olympian is still recovering from shoulder surgery.

This will mark the first U.S. Championship without Horton on the roster since 2002. Horton won two medals at the Bejiing Olympics, team bronze and silver on high bar, and was a member of the 2012 Olympic team in London.

Steve Jaciuk of the University of Minnesota will take Horton's place in Hartford. To view the full men's roster for the 2013 P&G Championships, click here

Below is the full release from USA Gymnastics:

Steve Jaciuk of New Berlin, Wis./University of Minnesota, has been added to the men’s field for the 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for Aug. 15-18 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

Jaciuk is replacing 2008 Olympic horizontal bar silver-medalist Jonathan Horton of Houston/Team Hilton HHonors (Cypress Gymnastics), who withdrew because he is still working toward competition readiness following surgery late last year.  Jaciuk was the next male gymnast in the men’s program rankings, which are used to determine who qualifies to the event.

The remaining four members of the men’s 2012 U.S. Olympic Team are expected to compete: Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma); Danell Leyva of Miami/Team Hilton HHonors (Universal Gymnastics); Sam Mikulak of Corona del Mar, Calif./University of Michigan; and John Orozco of the Bronx/Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), the defending all-around champion.
