The LSU Tigers Aren't Finished Just Yet

LSU was one of eight teams to compete in the 2013 SEC Championship on Saturday, but they definitely made their presence known.

They showed that they weren’t done improving this season and fans couldn’t agree more. LSU has drastically improved from previous seasons and they have made it clear that they are here to stay.

Here is how the competition went down:

The Tigers started on their best event: The Floor Exercise.  Jessica Savona and Lloimincia Hall led the team in scoring, each receiving a 9.95. Jessie Jordan and Maliah Mathis received career high 9.90's. Rheagan Courville finished her routine, earning her a 9.925, granting LSU a season-high 49.625! It was the 2nd highest floor score in school history!

LSU was leading after Floor and was hoping to hold on to their lead. Next up was Vault. Kaleigh Dickson stated off the rotation with a 9.85 and Britney Ranzy followed, receiving a season-high 9.875. Next, scoring a career-high 9.925 was Jessie Jordan! The Tigers weren’t done there. Rheagan Courville finished off the rotation with a PERFECT 10.0 VAULT, the first in her career!

The Tigers were still in the lead after two rotations and were ready for bars. Jessie Jordan and Britney Ranzy each received a 9.775. Kaleigh Dickson followed with a 9.80. Rheagan Courville, coming off of her perfect vault received a 9.875. Randii Wyrick earnd a 9.825, and Sarie Morrison finished off the bar rotation with a 9.90!

The last event was beam. The Tigers were in 3rd place behind Florida and Alabama. Britney Taylor started the line-up off right with a career-high 9.90! Following her lead was Kaleigh Dickson with a career-high 9.875. After Ericka Garcia suffered a fall, earning her a score of a 9.30, many questioned if the Tigers could finish strong. They did. Lloimincia Hall received a 9.80, Jessie Jordan a 9.825, and Rheagan Courville with a 9.95! The beam total for the Tigers was a season-high 49.375!

LSU ended the competition in third place with a 197.700, however that was not bad news for them. That score was a new season-high for the Tigers showing that they had yet to reach their peak in regular season.

Rheagan Courville became the 3rd LSU gymnast to win the SEC All Around title after Rachelle Fruge in 1991 and Ashleigh-Clare Kearney in 2008. She posted a career-high 39.75, to tie with Florida's Bridget Sloan for the title.

Lloimincia Hall defended her SEC Floor Title with a 9.95, tying with teammate Jessica Savona.

I think it’s safe to say, the Tigers had a great night.
