Only One Can Be the Winner: No.4 LSU vs. No.5 Alabama

The LSU Tigers will face the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers are coming off of a big win last week against Georgia and everyone is excited to see if they can keep the momentum going.

This competition is sure to be one of the biggest NCAA meets of the year. Alabama is No. 5 and LSU is No.4, a ranking that is leaving everyone wondering who will come out on top.

Here’s what you should know before the competition:

1.    Etta James Memorial Meet

Friday will be the Etta James Memorial Meet. Former LSU football player, Bradie James lost his mother Etta, to breast cancer in 2002. After her death, James founded Foundation 56 to gain more exposure for breast cancer. Head coach D-D Breaux is one of the committee members of Foundation 56 and I’m sure she, along with the team and fans will be rocking tons of pink on Friday!

2. Senior Night

LSU has two seniors on the team this year and they have done a fantastic job contributing to the team thus far. Friday will be the last home meet ever for Ericka Garcia and Britney Taylor. I’m sure they plan on going out with a bang!

 3. Alabama Wants to Prove Themselves

Alabama has surprisingly continued to drop in the NCAA rankings. Coming off of their National Championship last year, many are curious to see how their season will turn out. The Crimson Tide want to show the Tigers that they are no longer falling back in the rankings. They want to move up. Will the Tigers move up also, or will the Alabama Crimson Tide show them up?

4. Are the Tigers Here to Stay?

LSU was upset by Auburn a couple of weeks ago, but made a comeback last week against Georgia. Are the Tigers back for good or will Bama prove to be too much to handle?

5. Tiger Rankings

LSU continues to move up each week in the NCAA Rankings. They have moved up to No. 4 this week and fans can’t wait to see what they’ll do on Friday!

The Tigers are ranked No. 1 nationally as a team on floor, No. 6 on bars and No. 2 on vault.

Lloimincia Hall is No. 2 on floor

Rheagan Courville is No. 4 in the all-around, No. 5 on vault, No. 11 on floor and No. 16 on beam.

Sarie Morrison is No. 4 on bars.

Jessica Savona is No. 21 on floor.

6. Bama Rankings

Alabama will enter this competition ranked No.5, dropping a place since last week.

The Crimson Tide are No. 3 on vault and beam, No. 8 on bars, and No.4 on floor

Kim Jacob is ranked fifth on floor and 12th on beam.

Diandra Milliner is ranked No. 12 on vault.

Marissa Gutierrez is ranked 17th on vault.

Sarah DeMeo is eleventh in the bar rankings.

Ashley Sledge is No. 26 on bars.
