The highly anticipated 2013 NCAA season begins tomorrow. Here are

the key match-ups taking place this weekend:

#3 Florida Gators vs. Ball State

The Florida Gators will open their 2013 season at home against Ball

State. The 2012 SEC Champions have a very deep roster and this meet

is the NCAA debut for 2008 Olympian and 2009 World Champion 

Bridget Sloan.

#8 LSU Tigers vs #22 North Carolina State

The Tigers are hosting #22 North Carolina State. This meet will 

be the first time we see former Georgia coach Jay Clark in his

new position as Associate Head Coach for LSU.  If the Tigers are

victorious against #22 North Carolina State, this will be the 600th

win for Head Coach D-D Breax. 

 

Matchup of the Week: #11 Georgia vs #4 Oklahoma 

Georgia opens their season hosting the #4 Oklahoma Sooners.

Georgia has 11 gymnasts returning from the 2012 team. This will be the

first meet under the helm of Danna Durante. Durante is the Bulldog's 7th head coach. The Sooners recently lost senior leader Kayla Nowak to a serious back injury but have a strong crop of freshmen. 

#2 UCLA vs Southern Utah

The Bruins's roster took a huge hit recently with the loss of 2008

Olympian, Samantha Peszek, who is out for the season with a torn

achilles. However, a healthy Vanessa Zamarripa is back at full

strength on their roster this season following her 2010 achilles tear. This meet is important for the Bruins because SUU upset #5 UCLA in 201,1 and the Bruins do not want a repeat performance.
