USA Gymnastics Names Teams for 2012 City of Jesolo Trophy Meet


Nine seniors and five juniors are heading to Italy for the City of Jesolo Tropy on March 31.  The senior team includes world team and individual medalists, Mykayla Maroney and Aly Raisman; Rebecca Bross, who will be returning to international competition for the first time since injuring her knee at the 2011 Visa Championships; and Kyla Ross, who won the all-around last year as a junior and will be making her senior international debut at the Pacific Rim Championship this coming weekend (March 16-18, 2012).  Also competing for the seniors are Brianna Brown of Cincinnati, Brenna Dowell and Sarah Finnegan of GAGE, Elizabeth Price of Parkettes, and Mykayla Skinner of Desert Lights. 

The junior team includes all three juniors who are scheduled to compete at the Pacific Rim Championships this weekend - junior national champion Katelyn Ohashi of WOGA, along with Cincinnati's Lexie Priessman and Amelia Hundley.  Rounding out the junior team are Bailey Key of Texas Dreams, who, at 12 years old, was the youngest competitor at the 2011 Visa Championships, and Madison Desch of GAGE.

INDIANAPOLIS, March 12, 2012 – 2011 World Championships team gold medalists McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, Calif./All Olympia AOGC, and Alexandra Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan's American Gymnastics, are two of the 14 women who will represent the USA in the 2012 City of Jesolo (Italy) Trophy on March 31. The event is expected to feature gymnasts from Japan, Italy, Russia and the USA.

The U.S. Team features nine seniors and five juniors.

Maroney is the defending all-around and vault champion, while Raisman won the all-around bronze medal and gold medals on balance beam and floor exercise in 2011. Ross, now a senior, won the junior all-around title last season.
