Sandra Izbasa Out of World Championships

Big blow for the Romanian team - 2008 Olympic floor champion Sandra Izbasa will miss the World Championships with a foot injury.

The 21-year-old was expected to lead the Romanian team in Tokyo and put up big numbers on vault and floor.

Izbasa had successfully made a comeback from a torn achilles tendon suffered in September of 2009. This April, she was crowned 2011 European Champion on both vault and floor. For the past few years she had been a vault, beam and floor specialist but in a push to contend for all around titles, Izbasa recently started competing uneven bars again and was looking quite decent. The All Around shared this post from the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, stating that,

"Romania teams for Worlds are leaving this morning to Japan with the absence of Olympic champion Sandra Izbasa who is suffering a foot injury. Izbasa has been replaced by Daniela Andrei while Diana Bulimar is the official reserve of the team."

Here is the new 2011 Romanian Women's World Team:
Daniela Andrei, Diana Chelaru, Raluca Haidu, Catalina Ponor, Ana Porgras, Amelia Racea

And on the men's side, here is the updated team with Marian Dragulescu officially added in (the alternate is yet to be announced):
Christian Batanga, Marius Berbecar, Ovidiiu Buidoso, Vlad Cotuna, Marian Dragulescu, Flavius Koczi, and Andrei Ursache.
