The 2011 European Championships are taking place right now in Berlin, Germany. This year's competition will not feature a team final, only individual all around and event finals. The first day of competition kicked off this morning with the women's qualifications. Midway through, reigning World Champion Aliya Mustafina leads the way in the women's all around with a 59.760. On vault, she played it safe today, competing only a double twisting yurchenko instead of her 2.5 twist.

One of the highlights from the subdivision was reigning World uneven bars Champion Beth Tweddle's bar set. She nearly overshot her first handstand but fought to stay on, then delivered a magnificent routine including this huge combination: hindorf caught in mixed grip, Ezhova transition to immediate Shaposhnikova half turn. She scored a 15.55 (7.10 D score) and sits in 2nd behind Mustafina who leads the event thus far with a 15.60 (6.80 D score). Once those videos are available we we definitely upload them here, as with many other videos.

On the other events, Sandra Izbasa and Giulia Steingruber (Switzerland) are in the lead on vault with a 14.525. Old timer Oksana Chusovitina looks like she will make yet another vault event final as she currently sits in 3rd place with a 14.20. Mustafina leads on beam, 14.90, with teammate Anna Dementieva just behind her with 14.825. Dementieva is also 2nd in the all around with 56.90. Sandra Izbasa also holds the top spot on floor with 14.60. Once qualifications have concluded today we'll update you with the final standings.
