Cal Gymnastics Update
It is now January 28th. The deadline for pledges to save the University of California mens and women's gymnastics teams is in just 4 days, on January 31st. If you have not yet made a pledge we urge you to do so. No amount is too small. They will not collect the money until the total amount has been reached, so all you need to do now is simply submit your name and the amount you'd wish to donate. It takes less than one minute. This affects all of us as a gymnastics community.

USAG recently released news on The University of California Berkley gymnastics and their efforts to raise money in order to save the program:

"USA Gymnastics and Cal Gymnastics Forever are ramping up their efforts to raise money to support the reinstatement of the men's and women's gymnastics programs at the University of California, Berkeley.

To help bring the message to gymnasts and their families as the January 31 deadline approaches, USA Gymnastics is launching a final push by providing pledge boxes to all 170 gymnastics clubs in Northern California to solicit support from the grassroots gymnastics community. Pledges may still be made online at www.calgymnasticsforever.com.

"Our goal is to complement and reinforce the effort being made by Cal Gymnastics Forever," said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. "During this final two-week push, we want to encourage everyone to contribute to this worthwhile effort. No donation is too small.

"Collegiate gymnastics is a vital part of gymnastics in the United States," said Penny. "Not only is it a crucial part of the pipeline to our men's national team and ultimately the Olympics, but competing at the collegiate level and earning a scholarship are also strong motivating forces for many of our athletes across the nation.""

The Cal men got off to a great start this past weekend and are currently ranked #2 in the nation. Cal junior and national team member Glen Ishino is currently ranked #1 nationally in the all-around, as well as on high bar. Good luck to the guys against Stanford this weekend and please get your pledges in before January 31st!
