USAG Announces 2010 USA Women's World Championships Team

The suspense is over! After 2 lengthy selection camps at the National Team Training Center, the 2010 USA Women's World Championships team has been named:

Rebecca Bross, Plano, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics
Mackenzie Caquatto, Naperville, Ill./Legacy Elite Gymnastics
Chelsea Davis, Lakeway, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics
Mattie Larson, Los Angeles, Calif./All Olympia
Alexandra Raisman, Needham, Mass./Brestyan's American Gymnastics
Alicia Sacramone, Winchester, Mass./Brestyan's American Gymnastics
Bridget Sloan, Pittsboro, Ind./Sharp's Gymnastics Academy

Only one catch: one of these girls will be the alternate, but it is still yet to be determined. All 7 girls will travel to Rotterdam, practice during the training sessions, then one will be moved down to alternate before the start of competition. The incentive is likely to give defending World Champion Bridget Sloan a bit more time to get into routine shape as she's still not quite at the level she needs to be after the shoulder injury that kept her from doing just one event in August at the 2010 Visa Championships. Also, Rebecca Bross has been nursing a foot injury so her status as an all arounder is questionable. Unfortunately, Samantha Shapiro of AOGC did not get to participate in the 2nd camp this week due to injury.

Rewind to August: here's Bridget Sloan's thoughts on her one event performance at Visa Championships and her goals for the World selection camps:
