Uneven Bar Routines to Watch for at the 2010 NCAA Championships

The 2010 NCAA Women's National Championships will be taking place in Florida this week. As we head into the Championships, here is a preview of some great uneven bar sets you won't want to miss and some potential 2010 Uneven Bar National Champions.

First is Anna Li of UCLA. She's been consistently ranked #1 on bars all season with an average of 9.928! She's even scored a few perfect 10's this year on bars. Here is her routine from the very first meet of the season where she scored a 9.95. Check out the height on her tkatchev!

Ranked 2nd behind Li is her teammate, Vanessa Zamarripa of UCLA. Vanessa has a pretty standard routine (overshoot, tkatchev, double layout) and is very clean.

Hollie Vise of Oklahoma is a former World Champion on uneven bars and her routine today is still exquisite. She competed a double front dismount last year but it gave her some trouble so she went back to a double tuck. It'll be tough to win the event title without and E dismount, but her bar work and pike jaeger are among the best in the nation. Hollie's freshman teammate, Brie Olson, is another one to watch on bars. She competes a deltchev release and a full twisting double layout. Here is Hollie's 9.95 routine from her final meet at home:

Oregon State just squeaked past Georgia in the tiebreaker of the Columbia Regional to qualify as a team to NCAAs, and OSU has quite a few great bar sets. Leslie Mak of OSU competes a full twisting Pak salto (aka Bhardwaj). But leading the way for the Beavers on bars is Laura Ann Chong, currently ranked 4th in the nation:

Another bar routine that caught my eye at Nationals last year was Elise Wheeler of Southern Utah. She qualified as an individual All Arounder again this year as she is very pleasant to watch on bars. Here is a clip of Elise from bar training at last year's Nationals:

Alabama will be one of the favorites to win the team competition, and they have a lot of uneven bar sets that consistently score high, especially from Ashley Priess, Kayla Hoffman and Kassi Price. Alabama has been on fire with landings this year, so look for them to stick most of their dismounts on bars, most of which are double layouts. Kassi Price is one of few girls competing a hindorff. Here is Kassi on bars versus Oklahoma:

And lastly, don't miss 2008 German Olympian Daria Bijak of Utah on bars! She has one of the more unique routines in the NCAA and swings very aggressively. Here is a routine from late in the season with her new Maloney to mix grip transition:
