Team Russia is among several teams -- including Japan and Canada -- to name their four athletes for the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, Canada, on October 2-8. Russia's team is a mix of new senior talent and legendary veterans:

Elena Eremina
Anastasia Iliankova
Angelina Melnikova
Maria Paseka

Both Melnikova and Paseka were members of Russia's 2016 Rio Olympic team, while Eremina and Iliankova are both first-year seniors.

Eremina has shown up strong in competition in her first year on the senior scene. She came in second all-around at the Russian National Championships and also took home the silver on floor. She helped Team Russia to gold at the DTB Pokal Team Challenge Cup and secured individual gold on bars at the City of Jesolo Trophy in March. She has incredible skills and style on bars, and proved herself as one of Europe's best when she took fourth all-around at the European Championships.

Watch her winning routine in Jesolo:

Iliankova is also incredibly strong on bars, most recently winning the event title at the Osijek Challenge Cup in May with a 14.2. She performed an outstanding set for a 14.633 at the Russian Championships to earn a 14.633.

As a member of Russia's Rio Olympic team, Melnikova will bring great experience on the international stage. While she had falls on beam and floor in qualifications in Rio and didn't earn a spot in any of the finals, she helped Russia secure the silver in the team final with her all-around performance. Melnikova has competed in various international competitions and world cups this year, including the Stuttgart World Cup where she took second all-around, the City of Jesolo Trophy where she was sixth, and the London World Cup where she came in fifth. Melnikova performed an outstanding floor routine at the European Championships to win gold.

Paseka has the most international experience of the group, having competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. Her greatest strength comes on vault where she won silver behind Simone Biles in Rio. At the 2015 World Championships, Paseka took home the gold for her combination of vaults including an Amanar and Cheng. She is one of our top 10 senior elite vaulters to watch in 2017. Watch for Paseka to be a front-runner for the vault title in Montreal.
