Norah Flatley Announces Retirement From Elite Gymnastics
Former U.S. elite Norah Flatley announced her retirement from elite gymnastics on Friday afternoon in a lengthy Instagram post. She will continue competing as a Level 10 gymnast during the upcoming season before attending UCLA beginning in the 2018-2019 season.

Flatley's last performance on the international stage came in 2015 when she competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy and picked up three medals--gold on balance beam and silver on both uneven bars and in the all-around. She was expected to contend for a spot on the 2016 Olympic team, but continued injuries kept her off the competition floor. It looked like a comeback might have been possible this year after she attended several national team camps earlier in the year.

Flatley, who trains at Chow's Gymnastics and Dance, burst onto the scene as a junior in 2013 when she won the balance beam title at the Secret U.S. Classic and finished fourth in the all-around as well. She earned the silver medal on beam and a fifth place all-around finish at the P&G championships later that summer.

She made her international debut in 2014 when she competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy and Pacific Rim Championships where she came away with gold on balance beam at both competitions. She was the all-around bronze medalist at both the Secret U.S. Classic and the P&G national championships in 2014 and picked up another balance beam title at the U.S. Classic.
