Junior International Elite Emma Malabuyo announced her verbal commitment to UCLA on social media. A two-year U.S. National Team member, Malabuyo trains at Texas Dreams in Coppell, TX under coaches Kim Zmeskal Burdette and Chris Burdette

Her sweet caption reads,
EXCITED, PROUD, THANKFUL. Today I verbally committed to attend UCLA on a full ride athletic scholarship!!! EXCITED for the opportunity to compete college gymnastics in the future. THANKFUL to all the colleges that expressed interest in me. PROUD to join the Bruin family! I have amazing coaches who continue to push me to be my best, and a supportive family who encourages me every day. I am so thankful to them! And Thankful to God for these blessings

In 2017, Malabuyo earned two international assignments and competed at the International Gymnix in Montreal and the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. At both competitions, Malabuyo helped team USA win gold and at Jesolo, she placed third all-around. We featured Malabuyo and Texas Dreams in our Beyond the Routine documentary in 2016. Watch the episode with Malabuyo here.

Malabuyo is expected to graduate from high school in 2021 and would join the Bruins that fall. Junior elite Emily Lee also recently committed to UCLA for the 2021-2022 freshman class.

While Malabuyo still has an exciting elite career ahead of her, we're thrilled she's decided to continue her career in NCAA!
