USA Gymnastics is backing away from the Karolyi Ranch.

Within the last six weeks, USA Gymnastics has reversed its plans to purchase the Karolyi Ranch's esteemed training facility in Hunstville, Texas, and is looking into alternative sites to hold national team training camps, according to a report by USA TODAY.

An agreement to buy the facility was originally announced on July 25 by USA Gymnastics, which currently uses Karolyi Ranch as the National Team Training Center for the women's program, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, and acrobatics.

USA Gymnastics said in a statement Tuesday:
The decision was made for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to unexpected financial expenditures associated with the purchase.
The Karolyis have been under scrutiny for their involvement in the ongoing criminal investigations regarding Larry Nassar but have not been charged with any misconduct at this point.

Training camps will continue to be held at the Ranch under a current lease, but the future of the Ranch is in question as USA Gymnastics searches for a new site for their National Team Training Center.
