Utah sophomore Sabrina Schwab will be out for the rest of the 2017 season with a knee injury after suffering a torn ACL in practice on Tuesday, according to Utah Gymnastics. She was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year last year and an All-American on bars at the 2016 NCAA Championships.

Heartbreaking news indeed and a huge loss for the Utes, as Schwab has been a standout competitor since her first meet last season. She has continued to contribute impressive performances early this year, competing all-around in the first two meets this season and placing second at BYU last Friday with a career-high 39.300.

Schwab broke a Utah record when she was awarded four Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors in 2016. She has been amazingly consistent and has hit all 34 of her career routines without a fall.

Watch Schwab's gorgeous work on bars at Utah's home opener vs. Michigan:

We, along with the whole gymnastics community, are wishing Schwab the very best in her recovery, and we hope to see her back on the competition floor stronger than ever next season.
