Mizzou Dominates 2017 State Of Missouri Meet With 196.225

With their second meet of the weekend, the No. 6 Missouri Tigers traveled to the State of Missouri meet with Southeast Missouri and host Lindenwood.

Mizzou Dominates 2017 State Of Missouri Meet With 196.225
In their second meet of the weekend, the No. 6 Missouri Tigers traveled to the State of Missouri meet to take on Southeast Missouri and host Lindenwood in St. Charles, MO, on Sunday. The Tigers won the in-state battle at Hyland Arena by a clear margin, posting a strong 196.225. Lindenwood came in second with a 193.40, and Southeast Missouri finished third with190.650.

Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers continued their strong start to the 2017 season with a solid performance of 196.225. They had two road competitions this weekend, winning both meets and getting them off to a 5-0 start. The Tigers began the competition on bars and posted a 49.025 to take an early lead. On bars, Missouri was led by Morgan Porter's 9.875. The Tigers avoided counting a fall on beam and scored a 48.65 on the event. Brittany Ward topped the beam standing for the Tigers by tying a career high of 9.925. On floor, Mizzou bounced back with Kennedi Harris leading the way with a 9.925 to tie her career high. Missouri finished the meet with a bang by setting a program record on vault with a 49.425, topped off by Morgan Porter's 9.95 on her Yurchenko full. The impressive vault rotation also had new career bests for Madeleine Huber (9.85) and Aspen Tucker (9.875). Sophomore, Morgan Porter, won the all-around with a solid 39.25 performance.

Lindenwood

The nation's top-ranked Division II team, Lindenwood was home for the first time this season at the State of Missouri meet. The Lions came out ready to compete with an impressive 48.8 on vault, fueled by stellar vaults from Kierstin Sokolowski (9.80), Katey Oswalt (9.85) and Aubree Horn (9.75). The Lions continued their strong performance on bars with a 48.50, highlighted by Aubree Horn's 9.75 and Andavea Alexander's 9.75. Lindenwood continued to the beam where they showed a good fight throughout with a 47.925. Kierstin Sokolowski posted the high for the team with a 9.80. The Lions finished on floor with great tumbling and performances with a 48.175.

Southeast Missouri

 Southeast Missouri competed in its first competition of 2017 at the State of Missouri meet. The Redhawks started their season with a 190.65 and put up an impressive five all-around performers. SEMO's top all-around performer was Alexis Brawner with a 38.175. Brawner shined on floor with a 9.80 and a 9.725 on vault. The Redhawks broke the 48 mark on vault with a strong team performance of 48.30, led by Courtney Taylor's 9.775.
