Utah Adds Trio of Talented Freshmen
In this week's installment of freshman class previews, FloGymnastics takes a look at Utah's talented group of newcomers. Although Utah is welcoming in a small class of only three gymnasts, the Utes freshmen come with experience, big talent, and confidence. The freshmen include:

Missy Reinstadtler: Senior Elite qualifier, three-time JO National Championship qualifier
MyKayla Skinner: 2016 Olympic Team alternate, five-time U.S. National Team member, two-time World Championship medalist (gold, team; bronze, vault 2014)
Kim Tessen: 2016 JO National Team member, 2015 JO National Championship qualifier

MyKayla Skinner

Skinner is a elite-level gymnast who brings huge skills and talent to the Utes. A Gilbert, Arizona, native, Skinner trained at Desert Lights Gymnastics. She had the meet of her life at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials where she was selected as an alternate for the Olympic Games. Skinner traveled to Rio, although was not called upon as an alternate. Skinner will be able to provide a big score on every event. She has made great progress on her execution in the last year, but look for that to be a key area of focus this season. She will be undoubtedly bring one of the hardest floor routines this season, possibly performing an "E" skill in every tumbling pass. Skinner has a variety of 10.0 vaults we could see this season, including a Yurchenko double.

Coach Farden on Skinner:
"MyKayla is a world-class athlete who will make an immediate impact on all four events and could be a contender for NCAA titles her freshman year."

Missy Reinstadtler

Reinstadtler is a freshman from Brick, New Jersey, where she trained as a level 10 gymnast at North Stars Gymnastics Academy. Reinstadtler qualified to senior international elite in 2014 but chose to compete level 10 in 2015 and 2016. At the 2016 J.O. National Championships, she had great success in winning the bar title and taking third on beam, fifth on vault, and seventh all-around. Reinstadtler will make an impact for the Utes this season on vault, adding a 10.0 start value as she performs a Yurchenko 1.5. Her gymnastics comes with beautiful lines and great execution, and she will be contending for an all-around spot this season.

Utah co-head coach Tom Farden on Reinstadtler:
"Missy is a talented elite-level athlete with outstanding execution on each event. She has the rare combination of power and grace in her gymnastics and could compete for an all-around spot as a freshman."

Kim Tessen

Tessen is a hometown girl from Orem, Utah, where she trained at All-American Gymnastics. She finished her club career on a high note, making the J.O. National Team. She finished first on bars, second all-around, and fifth on vault at the 2016 J.O. National Championships. Tessen shows great difficulty on all four events and will look to be a key contributor. She competes a difficult and stunning bar routine, including a Maloney and sky-high Jaeger. She will add a 10.0 start vault on vault with a Yurchenko 1.5. Tessen also has great difficulty on floor, including a beautiful double layout.

Coach Farden on Tessen:
"Kim is a strong all-around gymnast with great power on vault and floor. She is a well-coached local athlete, and she will be a great addition to our program."
