Two-time Russian Olympic gymnast Ksenia Afanasyeva is retiring from the sport because of health reasons, according to Russian national team head coach Valentina Rodionenko.

Rodionenko said the 2008 and 2012 Olympian has serious kidney stones that are causing her to retire, R Sport reported.

She was named an alternate to the 2016 team heading to Rio. She will be replaced by Evgenia Shelgunova.

Afanasyeva is best known for her stellar work on floor exercise, where she has two world medals and two European titles. Most recently, she earned a silver medal for the event at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

The gymnastics world will surely miss her!
