It's the perfect day to thank all the dads out there for the amazing ways they impact the lives of their gymnasts.

As a former gymnast, here's a list of 10 things I wish I would've said more to my dad while I was still competing.

To Dad on Father's Day:


10. Thank you for driving me to the gym more times than you could ever count.

9. Thank you for waiting on me when I’m talking to my friends and am slow to get my stuff together.

8. Thank you for being endlessly patient when I come out of a four-hour practice and don’t feel like talking about it at all.

7. Thank you for photobombing every picture I try to take with my teammates after a meet. Two thumbs up.

6. Thank you for thinking that every skill I do is basically the hardest skill in the universe…and also for calling them all by the wrong name.

5. Thank you for making me feel like superwoman when I nail my routine.

4. Thank you for making me feel equally like superwoman when I fall 3 times in my routine.

3. Thank you for always reminding me that there is more to life than gymnastics.

2. Thank you for being the most genuine supporter of my goals and for always believing in me.

1. Thank you for looking me in the eyes before every meet and saying, “No matter what happens, you’ll always be a 10 to me.”
