With the J.O. season complete, we have ranked the top performers from Level 10 National Championships, Level 9 Eastern Championships, and most recently Level 9 Western Championships. At Westerns, one region in particular stood out above the rest - Region 1 which includes California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
The state of California has always been incredibly strong, and this year is no different. Teams like SCEGA, who had three gymnasts land in the top 15, San Mateo, Wildfire, Airborne and many more had great performances from their level 9s this season. It is not an accident that the six NCAA teams in California recruit largely out of their own back yard. However, California does not deserve all the credit for the region’s success. Arizona has several top programs, Brown’s Gymnastics of Nevada has two gymnasts in the top 60, and All American Gymnastics in Utah was recently nominated as JO National Program of the year.
Watch Jordyn Duffield of Wildfire rock her floor routine at Western Nationals, she landed 5th in the rankings:
Not far behind was Region 3, who had 34 gymnasts in the top 100. Texas Dreams Gymnastics, who recently recently earned the honor of JO National Program of the Year, had three gymnasts in the top 15.
It is an unbelievable accomplishment to qualify to the Western Championships, and to stand out among the best of the best is not easy to do. We are excited to see what these gymnasts go on to accomplish in their gymnastics careers, and look forward to seeing many of them in the level 10 rankings in 2017!
