Six Sensational NCAA Seniors In The Running For AAI Award
The nominees for the 2016 AAI Award are some of the most outstanding athletes NCAA gymnastics has ever known. This is the 25th annual year of this prestigious award, which looks to honor the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country.

College coaches submit a nomination from their team and then vote for the candidate of their choice. This award is considered the Heisman Trophy in our sport and AAI is proud to continue its support of NCAA gymnastics.

The nominees are listed below, via AAI:


Caitlin Atkinson


A few highlights:
• 2016 SEC Gymnast of the Year
• 2016 SEC Co-Gymnast of the Week (March 15, Feb. 16)
• 2015 NCAA All-American – 1st Team Beam, 1st Team All-Around
• 2015 NACGC/W All-American – 1st Team All-Around
• 2015 SEC Gymnast of the Week (March 3)
• 2014 NACGC/W Scholastic All-American
• 2013 All-American – 1st Team Vault
• 2013 SEC Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 26, Feb. 5)

A few highlights:
• Four-time All-American (twice on beam, once on vault, once on bars)
• One of two gymnasts in Stanford history to record two top-four finishes on beam at the NCAA Individual Finals
• 2015 first-team All-American on beam, second team All-American on bars
• Placed second on beam with a 9.9375 at the 2015 NCAA Championships Individual Event Finals to become the third gymnast in program history to finish second in the event
• 2015 first-team All-Pac-12 on bars
• Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention in 2015
• Recorded Stanford’s six highest scores on beam and two top-10 scores on bars in 2015
• 2013 NCAA Norman Regional champion on beam and vault
• Earned two All-America honors as a freshman in 2012
• A 2008 U.S. Olympic team alternate
• Won a World Championships bronze medal on the beam in London in 2009

• Earned four league honors for a total 12 Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors in her career
• Has collected 22 event titles this season 6 Vault, 6 Beam, 5 Floor, 5 Bars & 7 All-Around for 29 total wins
• Named to the All Big Ten First Team
• 2015 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year
• Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar
• 2015 Honda Sports Award Nominee
• Held the top spot of the national all‐around rankings for two weeks in 2015, the first time by a Minnesota Gymnast
• Broke the program record for the all-around scoring a 39.675
• Voted Gophers’ Most Valuable Performer in 2015
• 2015 Big Ten All-Around Champion with a Minnesota‐record score of 39.650
• 2015 NCAA First Team All-American on vault
