Amelia Hundley and Danell Leyva both landed on the podium at the 2016 Stuttgart World Cup. Hundley competed yesterday and earned a 56.499 total for third. Leyva took silver on the men's side with an 86.631. This gives USA the most points in the World Cup series, where countries earned points for placements at the AT&T American Cup and the World Cups in Glasgow, Great Britain, and Stuttgart.

In Stuttgart, Sophie Scheder of Germany won the women’s all-around with a 57.032 and Canada’s Isabela Onyhsko took the silver with a 56.665. Germany’s Andreas Bretschneider won the men's title with his 87.132 and behind Leyva in third was Russia’s Nikolai Kuksenkov with a 86.432. 

Hundley had the top scores on both vault (14.933) and floor exercise (14.000). She also scored a 13.266 on bars and a 14.300 on beam. Leyva had the top score on floor (14.900) and high bar (15.733). He also scored a 13.866 on pommel horse, 13.666 on rings, 14.433 on vault, and 14.033 on parallel bars.

STUTTGART, Germany, March 20, 2016 – Danell Leyva of Miami/Team Hilton (Universal Gymnastics) won the silver medal at the World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, which is the final stop in the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup Series. With Amelia Hundley’s bronze and Leyva’s silver medals in Stuttgart, the United States clinched both the women’s and men’s all-around World Cup Series titles.

For the World Cup Series title, countries earned points for placements at the AT&T American Cup and the World Cups in Glasgow, Great Britain, and Stuttgart.   For the women, the USA won both the AT&T American Cup (Gabrielle Douglas, Virginia Beach, Va./Buckeye Gymnastics) and World Cup in Glasgow (MyKayla Skinner, Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights Gymnastics), was also second at the AT&T American Cup (Maggie Nichols, Little Canada, Minn./Twin City Twisters),  and placed third in the World Cup in Stuttgart (Hundley, Hamilton, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics).  For the men, the USA notched silver medals at both the AT&T American Cup (Donnell Whittenburg, Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton – U.S. Olympic Training Center) and Stuttgart (Leyva) and was fourth in Glasgow (Akash Modi, Morganville, N.J./Stanford University).

Germany’s Andreas Bretschneider won the Stuttgart World Cup title with his 87.132.  Leyva’s 86.631 put him safely ahead of Russia’s Nikolai Kuksenkov’s 86.432.

Leyva’s event scores were: 14.900, floor exercise’s top score; 13.866, pommel horse; 13.666, still rings; 14.433, vault; 14.033, parallel bars; and 15.733, the highest horizontal bar score.
