The Oklahoma Sooners won their 5th consecutive Big 12 title tonight in Frisco, Texas.
The Denver Pioneers finished second in their very first Big 12 Championship. The Pioneers started off their meet on the event no one likes starting on; beam. Senior Emily Barrett anchored the Pioneers beam rotation. She received a 9.875 for her routine which tied for third. On floor, senior Nina McGee did her powerful, fun floor routine that she always does. McGee scored a 9.95 for her floor routine. The Pioneers had three scores of 9.850 on floor to help them score a 49.300 for that rotation. On vault, the Pioneers struggled on their landings. Their highest score came from senior Maggie Laughlin who scored a 9.85. Finishing on bars, the Pioneers bounced back from a rough vault rotation and scored three scores of 9.9 or higher. Freshman Diana Chesnok and junior Julia Ross scored a 9.9 and McGee scored a 9.95. The Pioneers had a team score of 196.725.
The Mountaineers showed some consistent gymnastics tonight. Starting on floor, the Mountaineers used their adrenaline to score a 49.100. Their top routine came from freshman Kirah Koshinski who scored a 9.850. The Mountaineers had solid floor routines, just some landing issues on some tumbling passes. On vault, Koshinski again led the team. She score a 9.9 for her yurchenko one and a half vault, she tied for third with her vault. Another high score that the Mountaineers counted was a 9.850 from sophomore Zaarika Muhammad. Moving onto the bars, the Mountaineers had good routines but their anchor fell. Freshman Tiara Wright scored a 9.875 and junior Alexa Goldberg scored a 9.850 to help the Mountaineers score a 49.075. Lastly on beam the Mountaineers only had one score above a 9.8 and that was a 9.825 that came from senior Audrey Tolbert. The Mountaineers came close to breaking a 196. They finished with a 195.925 for their team score.
The Iowa State Cyclones finished fourth at the Big 12 Championships with a 195.350. The Cyclones struggled on vault, bars and beam. They had one or two scores of 9.8 or higher but nothing spectacular as a team on those events. On vault, the Cyclones had low landings on most of their vaults. Freshman Sydney Converse and Meaghan Sievers scored a 9.8 and 9.85 for their vaults. Moving to bars the Cyclones struggled again on their dismount landings. They had two scores of 9.8. Those scores came from Sievers and sophomore Hilary Green. On beam every Cyclone stayed on but they had multiple wobbles and few stuck landings. Their highest score came from senior Alex Marasco who scored a 9.825. Floor was a different story for the Cyclones, they counted all five of their scores to be a 9.8 or higher. Sophomore Haylee Young had the highest score of a 9.9 which tied for third place.
The next meet for the post season will be Regionals. Regional assignments will be given out in the next week.

The Sooners started the meet off on bars were they did not have one score below a 9.9. For the first time this year the Sooners had a gymnast score a perfect 10 on bars. Senior Keeley Kmieciak scored her first perfect 10 in her career and it was well deserved. On beam the Sooners kept their meet going strong. Sophomore Natalie Brown and junior Chayse Capps won beam with a 9.950. On floor the first two Sooners started the rotation with a 9.9, those gymnasts were Brown and Capps. Senior Haley Scaman tied for first on floor with a 9.95. To finish on vault, the Sooners had multiple stuck landings. Sophomore Ali Jackson and Kmieciak tied for first with a 9.925. The Sooners broke a 198 for the second time this season. Their final winning score was a 198.050.Denver
