To help celebrate 25 years of competition, we have taken a look back at some of the historic moments from International Gymnix and listed a few memorable performances below.
2012 - Bianca Dancose-Giambattisto - Bars
Canada's own Bianca Dancose-Giambattisto competed at Gymnix in 2012 and showed off her gorgeous bar work. She is now competing for the Florida Gators as their bars specialist, so it's fun to watch her performance from four years ago - check out the video below:
2006 - Shawn Johnson - Balance Beam
Much like Patterson, USA's Shawn Johnson was named Junior National Champion two years before the Olympics. Again, similar to Patterson, Johnson was also known for her performances on beam, not only for being so solid but for performing tough skills. Johnson later went on to win the Olympic gold medal on beam at the Beijing Olympics. Check out her beam routine from the 2006 Gymnix competition below - where she performs her signature tumbling series:
2002 - Carly Patterson - Balance Beam
In 2002, USA's Carly Patterson was named the Junior National Champion and she had already been to a few international meets. Patterson is known for her beam work, and she performed a super difficult routine at Gymnix in 2002, two years before her Olympic glory when she won the all-around gold medal. Check out her routine below from 2002:
1995 - Lilia Podkopayeva - Floor Exercise
In 1995, Ukraine's Lilia Podkoypayeva was one year away from her stellar performance at the Atlanta Olympics, where she captured gold medals in the all-around and floor exercise, as well as a silver on balance beam. Check out the video below of her floor routine, which she performed at Gymnix in 1995.
