Danell Leyva's Next Calling: Rhythmic Gymnastics?
At the Mexican Gymnastics Open, Danell Leyva performed a floor routine different from any other heÂ’s done before. This annual competition includes a Gala event where gymnasts perform routines combining gymnastics with music and dancing. Leyva chose to perform a floor routine, incorporating a rhythmic gymnastics ball, to Christina PerriÂ’s "A Thousand Years." Check it out below:

DonÂ’t miss his impressive triple turn at 0:40 and his side leap that gets tons of air at 0:45! Leyva doesnÂ’t just stick to gymnastics- at 1:14 he incorporates a bit of soccer-like dribbling and even when the ball isnÂ’t quite cooperating around 1:45, Leyva keeps his cool and continues gracefully. The final touch to this entertaining routine is his flashy, glittery shirt.

But possibly the best part of the routine? Leyva’s father and coach Yin Alvarez was the one recording the video and at the end, he turns the camera to himself and says “he’s amazing!” This charismatic duo just gave you one more reason to love them!
