Simone Biles has been very deservedly nominated as 2015 Female Olympic Athlete of the Year. Team USA uses these awards to celebrate the incredible achievements of outstanding U.S. athletes throughout the year. They will also award a Male Olympic Athlete of the Year, Olympic Team of the Year, Male and Female Paralympic Athlete of The Year, and a Paralympic Team of the Year.

The Best of the Year honor started in 1974 and has been presented annually ever since. Several other U.S. gymnastics legends have earned this award, including Nastia Liukin in 2008, Carly Patterson in 2004, and Kim Zmeskal in 1991.

 

The winners will be announced on December 10 at the Team USA Awards Ceremony in Philadelphia.
