Gymnast to Watch at WOGA Classic: Mariya Livchikova
Gymnastike will be providing a live broadcast of the 2013 WOGA Classic this Saturday! Every year, this event draws an exciting international field and many budding U.S. elite stars. The international gymnast I am most looking forward to watching this weekend in Dallas is Mariya Livchikova of Ukraine who boasts an exceptional blend of artistry and originality.

Livchikova is an elegant gymnast whose international career has been stifled by untimely injuries. She has been on the Ukrainian National team since 2009 and made her senior debut in 2011. There was much buzz around Livchikova entering the 2011 Tokyo World Championships after she made a huge splash at the Stella Zakharova Cup earlier that year. She revealed an incredibly unique beam routine including a front aerial to front tuck fight series!

Despite nursing an ankle injury, Livchikova looked strong during Tokyo podium training and was Ukraine's top hope for an individual spot at the 2012 Olympic Games. Check out her podium training beam here

Sadly, an untimely knee injury in the Tokyo training hall kept her out of the competition, and just like that she was out of contention for Olympic qualification.

Though her shot at the Olympics were over, 17-year-old Livchikova made a speedy recovery and finished an impressive 6th place in the 2012 European Championships floor exercise finals!

Watch her European Championships floor routine and take note of that exquisite second pass, double front to stag jump!

She continued to improve throughout the year and competed a stunning, upgraded, and innovative balance beam routine at the end of 2012 to win the Brno Grand Prix with a score of 15.250 (6.2 difficulty/9.05 execution). Check it out:

This will be a routine you will not want to miss this weekend! You can watch Mariya and every elite routine from the 2013 WOGA Classic LIVE on Gymnastike this Saturday! Click here for details
