2015-2016 NCAA Incoming Freshmen: Stanford
The Stanford Cardinal welcome in four talented freshmen this season. The Cardinal freshmen include Taryn Fitzgerald, Hailee Hoffman, Nicole Hoffman and Dare Maxwell. Last season Stanford surged and peaked at the NCAA Championships with an impressive 5th place team finish. These four freshmen look to help Stanford continue to shine on the Super Six stage.

Taryn Fitzgerald
Taryn Fitzgerald is a freshman from Houston, Texas where she trained at Stars Gymnastics the home gym of current Stanford junior gymnast Rachel Daum. Fitzgerald is a very strong vaulter and has had great success. She is a two-time Texas State Level 10 Silver Medalist on vault (2012-13) and two-time Region 3 Level 10 Bronze Medalist on vault (2013-14). Her sky high and strong vault will be a big boost to Stanford this season. Fitzgerald has the strength to see time in the all-around this season and make a big impact for the Cardinals.

Coach Smyth on Taryn Fitzgerald
"Taryn Fitzgerald works extremely hard and has proven to be a confident, and aggressive competitor in the gym. We can see her making a big impact on vault, beam and floor this season."

Hailee Hoffman
Hailee Hoffman is a freshman from Salt Lake City, Utah where she trained at Olympus School of Gymnastics. Hoffman will make an impact on vault and floor where she shines. Hoffman is very talent and shows great potential to be a star. Hoffman was the 2013 NIT vault champion along with being the Sate Champion in 2012 and 2013. Hoffman is off to a slow start this season as she is recovering from double ankle surgery prior to coming to Stanford.

Coach Smyth on Hailee Hoffman
"Hailee Hoffman is a late bloomer with a great deal of potential to improve in the college setting.  Unfortunately, she had double ankle surgery before arriving at Stanford and is slowly recovering. She is a natural athlete and when healthy is incredible on floor and vault."

Nicole Hoffman
Nicole Hoffman is a freshman from Bedford, New York where she trained at Galaxy Gymnastics. Hoffman was another late addition to the team, signing in June of 2015. Hoffman comes into Stanford with great success as a level 10 gymnast. Hoffman was the 2013 Regional all-around and floor champion. She finished 6th at the 2013 J.O. Nationals and won the state beam title. Hoffman will offer the Cardinals great strength on beam and floor where she shines. She is a very hard worker and has attended camps at Stanford where she was able to get familiar to the coaching staff. Hoffman was also a four year varsity soccer play in high school. Unfortunately Hoffman is recovering from an injury and is limited to training to start this season.

Coach Smyth on Nicole Hoffman
"We are hoping that Nicole Hoffman will be a consistent contributor for us on floor."

Dare Maxwell
Dare Maxwell is a freshman from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she trained at San Mateo Gymnastics under Armen Astoian and Oksana Bystrova (2015). Maxwell was a late addition to the freshman class signing last spring. Maxwell also trained at Dynamo Gymnastics under Shannon and Dennis Harrison (2011-14). Maxwell comes into Stanford with great experience and success. Maxwell was a junior international elite gymnast from 2008-2011. Maxwell was a three time J.O. Nationals qualifier (2008, 2012, 2013). Maxwell comes into Stanford with great a strong bar routine and great strength on beam. Look for Maxwell to get into the lineup on two events this season for Stanford.

Coach Smyth on Dare Maxwell
"Dare Maxwell is a beautiful gymnast with exquisite lines. We are hoping she will contribute on bars and beam for us this season."
