Sam Mikulak, a staple of the U.S. team since 2012, has withdrawn from the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow due to a slight tear in his left Achilles sustained in practice this past week.  Mikulak has won three consecutive P&G Championships and has been a leader for Team USA in the past two World Championships.

Chris Brooks and Marvin Kimble will now travel to Glasgow later this month.

Team USA has been plagued with injuries to their top gymnasts and John Orozco and Jake Dalton will also be missing Worlds due to injuries.

At the 2014 World Championships, the US men took third place. Mikulak qualified to all-around finals and ended up 12th. Donnell Whittenburg also qualified to all-around finals and placed 17th. Whittenburg was named to the Worlds team again this year.

Mikulak, seemingly in good spirits despite the injury, posted this picture to his Instagram on Sunday 10/12:

The worst timing to have a slight tear in my Achilles. Luckily I have a wonderful and supportive family here in Cali to cheer me up ☀️
