Successful elite gymnast, Sabrina Vega announced today that she will be headed to the University of Georgia. Vega has decided to close the elite chapter of her career and focus on her NCAA career. The time of Vega's arrival at Georgia is still undecided, but anticipated to be for the fall of 2016. Vega will join the class of freshmen with Jordyn Pedersen and Rachel Dickson. There is an opportunity for Vega to join the team in January, however no scholarship would be available. With teammate Brittany Rogers training and aiming for Rio, it would be possible if she defers to focus on her Olymic dream. We look forward to seeing Vega shine in the next chapter of her career.

With Vega's announcement to Georgia, she has decided to retire from the elite scene. She trains at GAGE under Al Fong. Vega most recently competed at the 2015 U.S. Secret Classic, where she competed on beam and floor. Prior to 2015, Vega battled injuries holding her out of competition for some time. She finished 10th at the 2012 Olympic Trials and 7th all-around at the 2012 Visa Championships. In 2011, Vega represented Team USA at the World Championships with a 1st place team finish. Vega also represented Team USA at the Jesolo Trophy where USA also brought home the gold medal.
