The Oklahoma Sooners welcome in two freshmen this season in Nicole Lehrmann and Megan Thompson. The Sooners finished third last season and just short of defending their national title. With a strong senior class leaving last season and the absence of Brenna Dowell, the Sooners will look to their freshman for depth this season. Although not a freshman, Oklahoma also welcomes in a senior transfer from Oregon State University, Nicole Turner

Nicole Lehrmann
Nicole Lehrmann is a talented freshman from Austin, Texas where she trained at Capital Gymnastics. Lehrmann was coached by Barry Hyder. She was a former junior international elite and level 10 gymnast. Lehrmann was also a J.O. National Team member, a national champion and a qualifier to the Visa Championships. Lehrmann has had success at the state, regional and national level during her career. She will be a great addition to the Sooners on all four events where she will look to make an impact early. Lehrmann shines on floor with personality along with strong tumbling. Watch her floor routine here.

K.J. Kindler on Nicole Lehrmann- “Nicole is an incredible talent on all four events and one to watch,” head coach K.J. Kindler said. “She has national title titles in both the all-around and on bars, and we expect her to contribute on all four right out of the gate. She is also a superb student and plans to join the Honors College upon arrival at OU. It was so fun to watch her face light up as the advisors told her about the great opportunities she will have at Oklahoma.”

Megan Thompson
Megan Thompson is a freshman from Independence, Mo., Thompson trains at Xtreme Gymnastics under Alisha Robinson. Thompson is a beautiful gymnast on beam with great dance and difficulty. This is an event that Thompson can make be a big contributor to the Sooners as a freshman. At the 2012 Missouri State Championships, Thompson finished 1st on floor, 2nd all-around and 3rd on vault.

K.J. Kindler on Megan Thompson- “Megan was so motivated to be a Sooner,” Kindler said. “We were her top choice and from the moment she arrived on campus, you could tell she was all in. Her beam is so impressive and I can see her gracing our beam lineup with her unique choreography and difficulty. I think she will be stellar for us on that event.”
