Jade Degouveia
is a gymnast from American Twisters in Coconut Creek, Florida. She competed level 10 earlier this year and finished with a bang at JO Nationals where she placed third all-around with a 38.225. She also competed in a couple elite qualifiers this year including the most recent May elite qualifier at the Karolyi Ranch.

If you had a day off from practice, how would you spend your free time?

I would most likely hang out with some of my friends or maybe go to the beach. There are so many things to do in Ft. Lauderdale.

What advice would you give to other gymnasts?

No matter what people think about you, whether they support you or not, stay focused on your goals and never let your fear of failure keep you from playing the game. I would give this advice to other gymnasts because it has really helped me throughout my gymnastics career.

How would you describe your personality?

I would describe myself as very outgoing and positive.

If you made a life bucket list, what would be your number one activity to accomplish?

Exploring Greece with nothing but a map, a camera, a backpack filled with snacks, and my best friend.

Pick one word to describe your attitude/personality in the gym.

Ambitious!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I have always wanted to learn how to surf.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Donate some of the money to animal cruelty prevention organizations.

What is your biggest fear?

The dark! I hate not being fully aware of my surroundings.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Placing third in the all-around at level 10 JO Nationals this year!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chicken wings drenched in hot sauce!

What song would you sing at Karaoke night?

Any Michael Jackson song.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Definitely extroverted!

On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are?

Probably like a 7 or 8. If I'm not telling a corny joke I'm usually trying to make people laugh with sarcasm.

If you could join any past or current music group, which would you want to join?

Destiny's Child, because who wouldn't want to be in the same music group as Beyoncé!

Who is your best friend and how did you meet?

My best friend's name is Gracie. She was my teammate when I was 12 and we became instant friends. She's like a sister to me.
