A Guide To Named Bars & Beam Dismounts

Patterson. Mustafina. Moors. All names of talented elite gymnasts who have been good enough to have a skill named after them by the FIG, with their names officially listed in the Code of Points. When an elite gymnast performs a skill for the first time at a major international competition, he/she is eligible to have the skill named for them. The list of these skills continues to grow year after year, and some are taken out as well. We thought we would help summarize these skills by grouping them into skill type. We’re starting this week with dismounts on bars and beam, including those dismounts which are still listed in the current Code of Points. While a few of these dismounts are performed by gymnasts today, many of them have not been performed in quite some time, or by anyone other than the original gymnast who competed the skill. Let us know in the comments section below which dismounts you’d like to see performed again!
