Six Spectacular Moments From The Super Six

The Super Six completion has concluded in Fort Worth, Texas. Congratulations to the Florida Gators! The Gators posted a 197.85 in route to their third straight title. Let’s take a look at six exciting moments from tonights Super Six Competition!

1. Florida winning their 3rd straight National Championship
The Florida Gators are back-to-back-to-back National Champions. The Gators won by a narrow margin of .05 over the Utah Utes with a 197.85. Florida came out on fire and held that energy all the way through the competition. Florida was led by Kytra Hunter and Bridget Sloan who both had big nights for the Gators. Florida was tested on vault as they started with a fall from Bridgette Caquatto. The team rallied to post five strong vaults following, allowing the team to drop Caquatto’s score. The Gators finished on bars with a 49.45 to capture another National Championship.

2. Utah rebounding from missing Super Six last year to placing second tonight
The University of Utah had a fantastic competition tonight coming up just short of winning the National Championship. The Utes posted a strong 197.80 to finish second behind the Florida Gators. Utah missed the Super Six competition last season but didn’t let that happen again this year finishing just .05 shy of the Florida Gators. Utah finished on vault where they had to watch and wait as the Gators finished on bars. Georgia Dabritz was a key contributor posting a 10.0 on bars and a 9.975 on vault for the Utes.

3. Elizabeth Price competing in the all-around for the first time all season posting a huge 39.675.
Freshman Elizabeth Price competed in the all-around for the first time in her young career to help her team to a 197.250 good enough for fourth place. Price added beam to her repertoire tonight for the first time and hit a beautiful routine finishing with an impressive double pike, to score a 9.90. Price also competed in just her second floor routine of the year, scoring a 9.90. Price also impressed on bars with a 9.925 and vault with a 9.95.

4. Oklahoma fighting back and showing resilience on beam to post 49.575
The defending champs started off the meet on floor only posting a 49.175 to find themselves behind. The Sooners had pressure on them following the slow start and did not give up. The Sooners finished on beam where they had to count a fall last night, posting an impressive 49.575 tonight. Coach Kindler explained that her team was gutsy on beam tonight with the pressure they had on them. Erica Brewer led the team with a 9.95. The Sooners finished in third place with a 197.525.

5. Another 10.0 for Georgia Dabritz!
Georgia Dabritz continues to impress on bars scoring another 10.0 tonight. Dabrtiz has scored a perfect 10 on both bar routines here at the National Championships. This is the first perfect 10 on bars for a Utah gymnast at the NCAA Championships. Dabrtiz has been impressive all season on bars scoring a total of five perfect 10s. We look forward to seeing this routine one more time during event finals.

6. Florida’s lights out floor rotation of a 49.65
After starting out the competition on beam with a solid 49.30 the Gators moved to floor, where they let loose! Florida dropped a 9.80 allowing them to not count a score lower than a 9.90 in route to a 49.65 total. This strong rotation propelled Florida into their final two rotations providing them with great momentum. Florida went on to post a 49.45 on both vault and bars. Kytra Hunter posted a team high score of 9.975 on floor.
Coach Rhonda Faehn tells us about Florida's stellar floor rotation.
