Florida Crowned 2015 NCAA Champion

After a thrilling competition and very close race, Florida won their third straight NCAA title with a 197.85. Utah had an outstanding competition and placed second with a 197.8, just 0.05 behind the Gators. After being No. 1 all year, Oklahoma had a few minor mistakes but fought hard to take the third spot with a 197.525. Alabama was fourth with a 197.275, Stanford was fifth with a 197.25, and Auburn was sixth with a 195.625. Every single team put up and incredible fight and Florida won by the very last routine.

Rotation one:

Alabama started their night off on vault with a big stuck Yurchenko full from Keely McNeer. They continued their momentum with the rest of lineup and finished with another stuck Yurchenko full this time from Lauren Beers to total a 49.425. Auburn started on bars with a great rotation lead by Megan Walker's 9.925 to total a 49.25. Florida began on beam where they hit for six for six and anchor Kytra Hunter earned a 9.9. The Gators got to drop a 9.7 from freshman Alex McMurtry and totaled a 49.3 for the team. Stanford was on floor where they started a bit rocky and went out of bounds a couple times. Elizabeth Price and Taylor Rice brought the team back on track nailing their routines and scoring 9.9s to bring Stanford to a 48.875.

Rotation two:

Stanford moved to vault and scored a solid 49.25. Utah started their night with a bang on bars scoring a 49.575. Georgia Dabritz anchored and earned a perfect 10 for the second night in a row. Auburn went to beam where they suffered two falls and ended with a 48.425.

Oklahoma started on floor with a very uncharacteristic rotation with a few bad landings. They didn’t have any falls but only totaled a 49.175. Freshman Natalie Brown replaced Erica Brewer who didn’t compete floor tonight and Brown anchored to score a 9.8. Scaman earned a 9.925 for her typical rock solid routine, opening with a huge, floaty double layout.

Rotation three:

Oklahoma moved to vault where they scored a much needed 49.475 lead by Scaman's stuck Yurchenko full. Alabama was on bars where they scored a 49.275 lead by Katie Bailey’s 9.9. Utah was on beam where they were solid for a 49.25. They were able to drop a 9.7 with the rest of the scores in the 9.8-9.875 range. Florida was on floor where they earned a massive 49.65. After a 9.8 from lead-off Claire Boyce, every other routine score a 9.9 or higher. Kennedy Baker scored a 9.925, Bridget Sloan scored a 9.95, and Kytra Hunter scored a 9.975.

At the halfway point, Florida lead with a 98.95, followed by Utah who had a 98.825, Alabama with a 98.7, OU with a 98.65, Stanford with a 98.125, and Auburn with a 97.675.

Rotation four:

Florida moved to vault where they fought hard for a 49.45. First up Bridgette Caquatto fell on a Yurchenko full but the rest of the team competed well under pressure and they had three 9.9s and a 9.925 from Hunter. Stanford was on bars where they had a beautiful rotation and earned a 49.575, the exact same score as yesterday’s prelims. Ivana Hong anchored for a 9.95. On floor, Auburn had a shaky rotation and ended with a 48.875.

Rotation five:

Auburn finished on vault to score a 195.625 all-around. Oklahoma moved to bars where they had a solid rotation until fifth up Haley Scaman missed her Jaeger. Freshman Brenna Dowell anchored well under pressure to earn a 9.85 and bring OU’s bar score to a 49.3. On beam, Stanford displayed grace under pressure after second up Nicolette McNair took a fall. The rest of the beam lineup was on fire, ending with Ivana Hong's 9.975. On floor, Utah was impressive and they earned a 49.425. The team didn't have anything lower than a 9.8 and didn't have to count anything lower than a 9.85. Becky Tutka anchored for a 9.925.

Rotation six:

In the final rotation, Utah finished with an incredible vault rotation to earn a 49.55 and finish with a 197.8. Dabritz anchored and scored a 9.975. At the time, the team score was the highest score of the night and the Utes just had to wait for the other three teams to finish.

Florida finished next on bars and after five hit routines, they were just 0.075 behind Utah. It was up to freshman Alex McMurtry to nail her routine and she stepped up big time, earning a season high 9.95 to push Florida to a 197.85 and beat Utah.

Oklahoma was on beam to finish the meet and they earned a huge 49.575 but it wasn’t enough to pass Utah or Florida and they finished in third with a 197.525. Erica Brewer was last up for OU on beam and she hit an incredible set, nailing her double tuck dismount and ran off in tears of joy. Alabama finished last on floor and put up a great fight to earn a 49.375 for fourth place.
