Romanian gymnasts Catalina Ponor and Marian Dragulescu have registered with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) anti-doping control, a sign that we may see them in elite competition by the end of the year, according to FIG.

To compete at FIG sactioned events, gymnasts must register at least six months prior to competition. Ponor, 27, could be eligible as early as July 12 and Dragulescu, 34, Aug. 5. Both would be in time for the 2015 World Championships, which will be held Oct. 31 - Nov. 1 in Glasgow, Scotland and will be one of the most important competitions leading up to the 2016 Olympics.

Ponor is one of Romania's most decorated female gymnasts and has won five Olympic medals and five World medals. Ponor hasn't seen competition since the London Olympics, however, comebacks aren't new to her. She retired in 2007 for nearly four years only to make a surprise return in 2011 and make the Olympic team in 2012. After the 2012 Olympics, she announced her retirement again.

Dragulescu is one of Romania's most successful male gymnasts and has a total of five World medals. He was the first to perform a handspring double front half out, which is named the "Dragulescu" after him and is considered one of the hardest elements on vault.

Both gymnasts may provide high quality talent and depth on Romania's teams heading into the 2016 Olympics.
