In our next installment of Beyond the Routine, we continue our exclusive and unprecedented access with the best gyms around the country as we return to Chow’s Gymnastics and Dance. We first gave Gymnastike Gold members an inside look at the team last year with one of our most successful Beyond the Routine series. We now return to feature head coach Liang Chow, coach Liwen Zhuang, and their impressive four national team members- senior Rachel Gowey and juniors Norah Flatley, Alexis Vasquez, and Victoria Nguyen.

Gowey had a breakout season this year starting with her international debut at the Jesolo Trophy where she captured world attention with her gorgeous lines. She continued to create buzz as she upgraded throughout season and added impressive skills. She was on track and peaking perfectly for the 2014 World Championships but her dream was cut short by a devastating ankle injury during training for the P&G Championships. After sitting out and rehabbing, Gowey is finally able to train again and just last week she was added to the Senior National Team.

Flatley first turned heads last year after her first elite season. She showed enormous potential and many fans drew similarities between her and Olympic Champion Shawn Johnson. This year, Flatley received her first two international assignments, competing at the Jesolo Trophy and Pacific Rim Championships where she placed third all-around and first on beam and both competitions.

First year national team members Vasquez and Nguyen are also prominently featured in this series. Vasquez had minor injuries that held her back near the beginning of season but she finished strong at Championships where she placed fifth and earned a spot on the national team. First year elite Nguyen dazzled the crowd at her first Championships and her mature gymnastics shows immense promise.
