USAG Announces Women's Team For 2014 World Championships
USA Gymnastics has announced the women’s team for the 2014 World Championships. The gymnasts are currently at the Worlds Selection Training Camp in Huntsville, Texas and they will head to Nanning, China after the camp ends. The Championships will run from October 3 to October 12, 2014. 

The gymnasts that will represent the United States in Nanning are:


Alyssa Baumann
This will be Baumann’s first World Championships. She placed fourth on vault and in all-around at this year’s P&G Championships with a combined scored of 116.100, as well as placing second, in a tie, on balance beam. At the 2014 City of Jesolo competition, Baumann earned a gold medal in the team event, tied for second on the balance beam, and placed sixth all-around, also in a tie. 

Simone Biles
Biles had her first World Championship appearance last year in Antwerp, Belgium where she earned four medals, including: Gold- All-Around, Gold- Floor Exercise, Silver- Vault, Bronze- Balance Beam. Simone is also a two time U.S. All-Around champion (2013 and 2014) who will be fighting to defend her world titles. This year at the P&G Championships, Biles placed first in the all-around, on vault, and floor exercise, tied for second on beam, and placed fourth on the uneven bars. 

Madison Kocian
At the 2014 P&G Championships, Kocian placed second on the uneven bars, and fifth on the balance beam. She also competed at the 2014 Pan American Championships where she earned a gold in the team event, silver on the uneven bars, and tied for fourth on the balance beam. 


Ashton Locklear
This is Locklear's first major international competition. At the P&G Championships this year, Locklear placed first on the uneven bars, and eighth on balance beam. She competed at the 2014 Pan American Championships where she earned a gold medal in the team event, and uneven bars. 

Kyla Ross
Ross made her World Championship debut in 2013 where she placed second in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and claimed fifth place on floor, in a tie. At the 2014 P&G Championships, she finished with a gold on beam, silver in the all-around with a combined score of 118.300, fifth on floor, and tied for sixth on the uneven bars. She also competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy competition, where she placed first in the team event and all-around, second on the uneven bars and floor, and with on balance beam. 

Mykayla Skinner
Skinner competed at the 2014 P&G Championships where she placed second on vault and floor, claimed the fifth place all-around spot with a combined score of 115.450, and placed sixth on balance beam. She had an unforgettable performance at the 2014 Pan American Championships where she claimed gold in the team event, all-around, vault, and floor exercise, and placed seventh on balance beam. 

Madison Desch
Desch competed in the 2014 P&G Championships, where she placed seventh in both the all-around and floor exercise. She also made an impact at this years Pan American Championships where she won a gold medal in the team event, placed fifth all-around, and sixth on floor. 

Non-traveling Alternate: Brenna Dowell
Dowell impressed the country this year when earning the silver medal in the all-around at the 2014 AT&T American Cup. She also placed fifth on the uneven bars a few weeks ago at the P&G Championships. 

One of the first seven team members will be chosen as the alternate at a later date.
