The balance beam, only 4 inches wide and 4 feet off the ground, is the make it or break it event of women’s gymnastics. Beam is easily the toughest event in women’s gymnastics, which makes these routines even more spectacular. To perform at a high level takes extreme talent, mental toughness, determination and great execution. 
 
Sam Peszek continues to impress with her beautiful grace and outstanding performance value. Peszek was the 2011 National Beam Champion where she performed an entire beam routine, “hands free”. Sam is a two time All-American on the balance beam. Her beam routine is crisp, clean and confident. Sam is one of few gymnasts who can be seen smiling throughout her entire beam routine.  Her routine showcases great difficulty including her flight series in connection to her dismount, back handspring layout to back full. 9. Jessie Jordan (LSU) 

Jessie Jordan is a very poised and confident performer on beam for LSU. Jessie has anchored the beam lineup in her first three seasons at LSU. She was ranked number six in the country on beam this year with a season high of 9.975. 8. Chayse Capps (Oklahoma) 

Freshman Chayse Capps was a great addition for the Sooners this year as she continues OU's artistic reputation with a beautiful and graceful beam routine. Chayse has unique and impressive style that shows right away with her mount- cartwheel onto the beam and press handstand. Chayse also combines her flight series into an immediate double stag jump which shows great control and grace. Chayse set an impressive career high as a freshman with a 9.975. 7.  Mackenzie Caquatto (Florida) 

Senior Mackenzie Caquatto is a two time All-American on beam. Her beam routine brings consistency and confidence. Mackenzie’s routine features a unique combo of switch leap to back handspring swing-down. She shows off beautiful lines and execution throughout the routine with a great level of difficulty.  Mackenzie’s solid and consistent routine was a huge score for the gators throughout the whole season as she was ranked #2 in the country. 6. Emily Wong (Nebraska) 

Senior Emily Wong is a fierce competitor and that shows in her beam routine. Emily seems to be clutch for Nebraska when they need her. It was Emily who sealed the deal for Nebraska to compete in the super six when she hit a beam routine under pressure to score a 9.95. Emily is among few gymnasts who perform a triple series- BHS- Layout-Layout. Her dismount round off double full is performed to perfection almost every time! Emily is a two time All-American on balance beam.

5. Bridget Sloan (Florida) 

Bridget Sloan is an amazing gymnast to watch on the balance beam and in 2013, she was the national beam champion. She continued to show her strength on the beam this year as she was ranked #1 throughout the season. Her routine has elite level value and performance quality. She has a high risk and unique front aerial to arabesque within her routine. Sloan is very solid, consistent, and determined to fight for every routine, landing and tenth when she competes on beam. 4. Lindsey Cheek (Georgia) 

Senior Lindsey Cheek had a fantastic season this year for the GymDogs and that showed through on one of her best events, balance beam. Cheek is a very confident, fierce and consistent competitor. She had a season RQS of 9.905. Her routine showcases great flexibility and beautiful lines. She finished 2nd in the nation on beam during event finals. 3. Kim Jacob (Alabama) 

Senior Kim Jacob had one of the most difficult beam routines in college gymnastics today. She took risks and was very often rewarded. Her routine featured a triple flight series- BHS-Layout-Layout and she has a very difficult and unique Brandi in the middle of her routine. She finished with a well executed round off- 1 ½ dismount. Kim's beam routine showed extreme focus and determination as she was not fearful to perform high risk and high level skills. Kim is a two time All-American on balance beam. 2. Taylor Spears (Oklahoma)

Senior Taylor Spears was the 2014 National Beam Champion with a score of 9.925. Taylor went out in style winning this title in the final routine of her career and her first time competing in event finals. Her routine is a great example of the Sooners style showing flexibility, artistry, grace and confidence. Taylor’s routine features a unique onodi to back handspring swing-down series, along with a back handspring to gainer full dismount combo. 1. Danusia Francis (UCLA)

Danusia Francis’ beam routine will take your breath away! Her very unique, gravity defying dismount is sure to get your attention. It is a combo of an aerial sideways across the beam connected to a layout full twist! Watch her breath taking dismount! Her beam routine showcases beautiful flexibility and great artistic ability. Her routine is anything but standard from her mount, which was made famous by Dominique Moceanu, through to the dismount. She has beautiful leaps and flexibility along with confidence and poise throughout. Her series shows great control with a front aerial to back handspring.
