Incoming Freshmen: Alabama
We will continue looking at this year’s incoming freshmen and today we look at the Alabama Crimson Tide. In an Alabama release, they listed five incoming freshmen but noted that two would join in the spring of 2014- Aja Sims and Keely McNeer. The remaining three gymnasts will be entering the University this fall and are all incredibly exciting gymnasts who we can't wait to see compete in college.

Mackenzie is a former senior international elite from Capital Gymnastics in Austin, Texas. Mackenzie competed level 10 the past two seasons and made it to JOs both years. This year she tied for first on vault, fourth on bars, and second on floor. She only scored a 8.775 on beam but still ended up with a 37.825, placing 11th and just missing out on a medal. Mackenzie also tied for first all-around this year at the prestigious Nastia Cup. Watch her floor routine from the Nastia Cup here. Mackenzie has kept many of her elite level skills in her routines including her arabian double front on floor and her 1 1/2 twisting Yurchenko.

Mackenzie on Bama: "When I made my visit to the University of Alabama, I immediately felt at home. love the coaching staff and the team atmosphere. I like the values that the coaches embody and reinforce in the girls on the team. I like how rich in tradition the University is, and the campus is beautiful. I see myself succeeding at Bama in both the classroom and in the gym."

Nichole is a level 10 from Zenith Elite in McKinney, Texas. She qualified for JO Nationals the past four years and in 2013 she placed fourth all-around making the JO National Team. Nichole is a strong all-arounder but is particularly strong on vault where, like Mackenzie, she competes a yurchenko 1 1/2. Watch her winning vault from the 2014 Texas Prime here.

Nichole on Bama: "The beautiful campus, all the history and tradition that comes with the Alabama, the welcoming and high-spirited coaches, the school academically were all what I was looking for. And the environment throughout Tuscaloosa made me feel so welcomed."

Kiana is a former junior US National Team member who trains at Texas Dreams. After numerous injury setbacks, Kiana returned to level 10 and competed at this year’s Texas Prime where she placed first on bars, beam, floor, and all-around with an impressive 38.675. Watch an interview with Kiana after that meet here. Kiana is a powerful gymnast and has the big skills to prove it, but it also flexible and graceful. She has a fun style which shows through in her floor routine

Kiana on Bama: "Alabama feels like home, and I love the environment and people there," Winston said. "I love it in general ... it's the best place on earth."
