BREAKING: Biles Withdraws from Pac Rims

2013 World All Around Champion Simone Biles has withdrawn from the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships. Biles was struggling during podium training today and made the decision to withdraw after meeting with National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi and the team trainer.  Biles was recovering from a shoulder injury that caused her to miss the 2014 American Cup.

Earlier today, Biles mentioned that she was really struggling with bars due to the shoulder injury. The U.S. Senior National Team Member was named to the Pac Rim team along with Kyla Ross, Elizabeth Price, Bailie Key, Norah Flatley and Nia Dennis. No word yet on Biles' replacement. Team USA did not have any traveling alternates so whoever is called up to replace Biles will have to travel to Vancouver before competition on Wednesday.

UPDATE: Peyton Ernst of Texas Dreams will replace Biles on the senior squad.
Ernst recently placed 2nd all around to Ross at last month's City of Jesolo Trophy Meet. Her teammate, Bailie Key, is Team USA's top junior elite at Pac Rims.
