#10 Nebraska Sweeps Titles in Season Opener

The #10 preseason ranked University of Nebraska women's gymnastics team swept all four events and the all-around to a 196.625-192.525 win over Northern Illinois to open the 2014 season. 

Senior Emily Wong had a strong night for the Huskers earning two individual titles including the all-around title (39.425). Wong ended the evening with a stellar performance on floor and posting a 9.95 on the event to claim top honors. 

Junior Jessie DeZiel started the evening off on fire posting two top scores that tie her career-best on vault (9.95) and on bars (9.925). Junior Jennifer Lauer also had a steady performance on beam, posting a 9.85 to earn the event title for the Huskers. 

Nebraska will hit the road next weekend traveling to Knoxville Tenn., to compete in the Ozone Collegiate Classic on Saturday Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., CST. The Huskers will face two top teams in No. 2 Alabama and No. 21 Kentucky.
