PREVIEW: No. 8 Georgia at No. 9 Stanford

# 8 Georgia vs. #9 Stanford
Sunday, January 12, 2014
Palo Alto, California

9th ranked Stanford Cardinals will be hosting 8th ranked Georgia Bulldogs this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Maples Pavilion.  Both teams are looking to build off of last season as Stanford missed the Super Six competition while Georgia placed 6th at the National Championships. It was the first Super Six appearance for Georgia since 2009. Both teams are preparing for a successful season ahead as they look to peak in time for Nationals held at Alabama this spring.

Stanford is looking to rebound from their opening meet with a strong performance this week against a top ten opponent. The Cardinals scored a 194.825 last weekend in the Norcal season opener.

Stanford will again be without their leading AA, Ivana Hong, as she is returning from an ACL tear last season. Stanford will look to their three seniors, Amanda Spinner, Shona Morgan, and Kristina Vaculik, for leadership and key performances.

Georgia is opening their season with two meets during the weekend against two top ten ranked teams. They will begin Friday night at #3 ranked Oklahoma, followed by #9 ranked Stanford on Sunday. Georgia is building off last season Super Six experience and will look to junior, Chelsea Davis and senior Lindsey Cheek, followed by sophomores Brittany Rogers and Brandie Jay. Georgia will also look for contribution from their freshmen Morgan Reynolds, Ashlyn Broussard, and Kiera Brown.
