Head coach D-D Breaux, associate head coach Jay Clark and assistant coach Bob Moore provided analysis and insights about the team and the individual performances throughout Gymnastics 101.

“We had a great crowd tonight who really got fired up and into the performances, and I am so happy they came out and celebrated the start of a new season with us,” Breaux said. “Our ladies were fantastic tonight and really came out strong.”

The Tigers opened the exhibition meet on vault with nine gymnasts performing vaults for the crowd. Reigning NCAA vault national champion Courville led the way with a 9.90 on a high-flying vault with exceptional depth. Gnat and Lloimincia Hall finished right behind Courville with matching 9.875’s. With the top five scores averaged, LSU finished with a 49.350 on vault.

Sarie Morrison, a first-team All-American last season on bars, posted the top score with a 9.90, while Britney Ranzy stuck her landing to wrap up a 9.875 performance. Jordan finished third with a 9.85 after a solid routine.

The Tigers kept the momentum rolling in the third rotation on beam as they racked up a 49.375 team total. Jordan nailed her routine to lead the squad with a 9.95 in the anchor spot. Courville finished second in the event with a 9.90. In her first meet inside the Maravich Center, Gnat showed great poise in a solid beam routine to score a 9.875.

“This was a perfect event to lead in to our season, and we cannot wait to get things officially kicked off in January,” Breaux said.

Fifth-ranked LSU opens the season on Jan. 10 when the Tigers play host to Centenary at 7 p.m. CT inside the Maravich Center.
