Maroney to Compete All Around at Worlds

USA's McKayla Maroney has been promoted to an all around contender after strong training in Antwerp. Maroney was initially entered as a vault and floor specialist.

With this decision, Brenna Dowell of GAGE has been named alternate to the team. Dowell was initially selected to compete bars and beam and has looked great in training. However, due to the format of these World Championships only three athletes from each country may compete on each event.

Maroney will join Simone Biles and Kyla Ross in the all around qualifications. Only the top two finishers will advance to Friday's all around finals. This will be Maroney's first time to compete all around since the 2012 Olympic Trials. She has looked very strong on bars and beam here in Antwerp. Click here to watch her train beam
