Florida Snags Nations Highest Total!
Senior night forced tears down every Gators’ cheeks (even head coach Rhonda Faehn cried, and I’ll admit I cried too!), but the team still managed to stay focused until the very end. Friday night the Gators accomplished the highest score in school history and the highest score of 2013, finishing with a CRAZY HIGH 198.425!

Minnesota scored their highest of the season with a 197.175, but was no match for the firey Gators.

Starting on vault, Florida scored a 49.450 with 9.9’s from Bridget Sloan, Ashanée Dickerson, and Kytra Hunter. Dickerson has turned in a 9.9 or better on six of seven vaults this season, and Hunter scored a near perfect 9.975 for the fifth time in 11 straight vaults.

The Gators dominated bars scoring five 9.9’s! Their total of 49.675 equals the second highest in Gator history, and is the highest bar total in the nation this season. Mackenzie Caquatto, who scored a perfect 10.0 earlier this season, scored a 9.975.

Beam presented a lot of problems for the Gators last week, with several falls and way too many wobbles. This week they hardly gave away deductions totaling a 49.60.

Bridget Sloan was given a 9.975 for her flawless beam routine. After the meet she laughed and said, “I’d really like to talk to that judge and see what she took off for.” I, myself, got chills during her routine, and completely agree that it should have been a 10.0!

Florida, as usual shined on floor, but this time the scores reflected even higher. Marissa King scored a near perfect 9.975 winning the event title. Their 49.70 on floor is the school record and the nations highest this season.

As if scoring the highest floor, bars, and team total wasn’t enough for the Gators, Kytra Hunter scored a 39.80 in the all-around! A Gator hasn’t scored this high since 1996. Hunter’s score is the highest all-around this season, and Sloan’s 39.75 is the second highest of 2013.

Florida finished their last regular season home meet and will head to Utah in two weeks for their last meet. Hopefully, the Gators will go into SEC’s in three weeks on this high and continue to ride it all the way to NCAA’s.
